I hope the rest of you are as excited as I am about Season 3. We have a little over a month to go!
So obviously, I want to see what happens with the love triangle. With Merritt Wever on board for a few more episodes, I think Schmidt will choose her for now. She will then break up with him later, seeing he still has feelings for Cece.
As for Nick and Jess, I want to see them babysit Sadie's baby (she was 40 weeks pregnant in Bacherlorette Party). It would be fun to see what they're like as parents, and would make for some hilarious moments I'm sure!
Coach and Winston are also suppose to have a story line together. I believe Coach met Schmidt and Nick through Winston, since they played basketball together. It will be interesting to see them together, I think it will be a competitive relationship.
Please share your thoughts! Would love to hear them!
I get the feeling, from the premise of the first episode, that Nick and Jess will have a very tumultuous year and probably end it in kind of the same place they are right now, just with a lot more baggage. Definitely hot and cold, but I actually also thought an episode babysitting Sadie's baby would be perfect!
I want Cece to move into the loft. Crowd it with the five (or heck, six?) of them. So many times it's been hinted at how she feels kind of left out, and if she and Schmidt are together by midseason or something, which I hope they are, this would be an excellent dynamic since it's also sort of been hinted at that she and Jess aren't necessarily the most compatible roommates. Regardless, as the relationships continue, it will be really interesting to see how they handle the changed dynamics, as people in relationships don't live with roommates forever, and the whole show is kind of built around the loft/their interactions as roommates and how that affects their friendships.
I really don't know what I want out of the Coach/Winston storyline. I like them both and would hate to see Winston's role diminished now that showrunners have the opportunity to bring back the character they originally intended to write for. But there are only four bedrooms and I'm almost certain that Nick and Jess are not at their 'happy ever after' point yet, so there just aren't enough bedrooms for everyone!
I would like to see an episode where Nick an Jess say they're going to move in together (not anytime soon but in season three), and they tell Schmidt and Winston to move out. If that happens and New Girl does it right it would be a really heartfelt episode.
I also hope that towards the end of the season Nick starts to figure his life out. I think it's inevitable, really, but not sure if he'll decide to go back to law school or try to buy a bar...I could see the character going either way, but maybe it will be a random third option we don't see coming!
I'm going for the random third option. I seriously doubt Nick will go back to law school, I think he's made that very clear. It would be funny to see him become some financial investor, he randomly talks about stocks, diversifying, and 'documents' as excuses to get out of doing things. Or, he could always study whales..
I like what you say about Cece and the loft. I think up til now, she's only shared story lines with Jess and Schmidt. She had maybe a minute each of screen time with Nick and Winston, and I think it would be fun for them to explore those relationships.
I also seriously hope Winston gets more story lines. He is only ever a support to others' and I want to see him develop a little more.
Considering how much Nick hates the establishment, for him to become a businessman or financial advisor in any form would honestly shock me. But I'm up for it. I could see him going back to law school to become a public defender or something like that, but joining the business field, when he goes on about the 99 per cent, etc, I just don't know if I can see it (yet!) Then again, he fell in love with Russell, so it's totally possible!
Now I feel like I'm spamming, but I thought of something else I'd like to find out: What Jess and Nick wrote on the papers about what they wanted out of their relationship - whatever it was that made Russell roll his eyes and not tell them what they both said. I kind of want what the papers said to make things even more complicated between them for a while.
True, I completely forgot about the papers! They could use that as creating some kind conflict between them, but I think Nick wrote the he was in love with her. I definitely feel Nick is more invested than Jess is.
I would buy that - but I think he's the love of Jess' life, too, even if it takes her a bunch of seasons to figure that out! And probably, Nick will be the creator of his own unhappiness with regards to her, I think, considering he's so negative about everything else! I wouldn't doubt that he breaks up with her to figure out his life this season because he thinks she deserves better or something like that.
