Aly Nelson is a recurring character on the FOX comedy New Girl. She is portrayed by Nasim Pedrad. Upon introduction to the series, specifically at Winston's police academy graduation during the episode Shark (S4 E12), Winston can be heard calling her "Officer Neilson" and Aly's badge confirms her last name as Neilson. However, as the series progressed, she has been referred to as Aly Nelson.

Initially she is no nonsense, direct, and attempts to avoid any sort of relationship with her partner Winston Bishop outside of her duty as a police officer with the LAPD. Eventually, Winston wins her over as a friend and they form a tight bond both as partners and as friends, and eventually, enter in a relationship together.
